Greetings! I was having an issue on PS4 where I wasn’t able to make group whistles or whistle to change the behaviour of the tames. After having a few conversations with my friend about his settings, we realised that it wasn’t working due to the fact that I’d assigned some dinosaurs to groups. Even dinosaurs that weren’t in a group wouldn’t listen. Once I’d removed all tames from the groups, they decided to listen to me. Huzzah!
Unfortunately it hasn’t reduced the number I’m accidentally killing, last nights casualty was out last remaining mammoth who I was standing under, blissfully unaware that my attacks against a wall were also hitting her. Turned out the wall had more hit points than a 123 mammoth. Who knew?
I don’t know if the issue about the groups and whistles is common knowledge, I’ve only been playing about 7 months but if it isn’t and you think it might help new players please can you share it.
Keep up the great work and I’m waiting earnestly for my next instalment of Rated Ark.

Tyrant of the Pink Barbers Tribe

P.S. You’ve probably already worked out why we’re called that but just to confirm, if we see someone sleeping in a roofless building we cut their hair and moustache and dye them Pink. Since they’re asleep they don’t really have any say but it feels wrong to just take that hair (for fur armour) without leaving them anything in return and who doesn’t like a giant pink Afro and matching moustache?

  • Fix for Dinos starving when they have access to food
  • Bag size limit increased to 600 slots
  • Forced One-time mindwipe due to recent balance changes

Community Crunch 131

On May 22 Primitive+ received a major update with a number of fixes, incorporation of major base game patches, as well as full Total Conversion functionality, including engrams, on Aberration and Scorched Earth.

The update included the creatures from TLC 1 and 2: the Rex, Procoptodon, Gigantopithecus, Direwolf, Direbear, Argentavis, Parasaur, Raptor, Sarcosuchus, Spinosaur, and Triceratops.

This Update added previously missing P+ engrams to the ARK Expansions Aberration and Scorched Earth, as well as missing saddles to previously released creatures. Non-primitive items have been removed from Scorched Earth and Aberration drops, and the Hazard Suit has been added to the Advanced Workbend (in Aberration). These changes now allow for a Primitive Plus experience on both of ARK's expansion packs!

PC player will received a free forced mindwipe with this past patch. The mindwipe was conducted due to changes that were made in our last patch regarding the altering of weight values of armor. In the interest of fairness they wanted to allow us to redo our characters to compensate for the altered weights of these armor sets.

This free mindwipe will come to console in the patch that correlates with these weight changes, which will be mentioned in the respective console patch notes threads at that time.

Real Life Dino News:

The Great Migration #3!  -Blue-

Once again it is time for them to remove some lower population legacy ARK servers on PC, Xbox, and PS4 from our Official legacy network. Over time the ARK population has migrated from legacy to non-legacy and in its wake left many servers with low populations for 0-1 players in a significant amount of cases.

Here is a quick breakdown on how this process works:

Taking Down Low Pop Servers
With calculations based on sustained player-count as well as popularity of game mode they will be removing lower population legacy servers, most of which retain a 0-1 player concurrent population. These servers will be taken offline on June 12th. Any existing server that is not considered a low pop server and is not taken down at this time will still exist on the Legacy network.

Legacy servers will continue to remain on a separate cluster from the new cluster, which means you will not be able to transfer anything between Legacy servers and the new servers.

We have included a link in the show notes that will take you to a complete list of the LEGACY servers that will be deleted on June 12th. You have from now until then to move your belongings onto a server not present on this list. Please click one of the links below. They are separated by platform (PC, Xbox, and PS4).

****Dino Spotlight with Goon and Esme****

One of the smallest predators on the Island, Compsognathus curiosicarius can be seen as a pet, a pest, or a threat.

While alone, Compsognathus is not dangerous or aggressive. In larger packs, however, it remembers its underlying carnivorous nature.

After a group of Compsognathus grows to a certain size, their pack mentality always seems to embolden them to “attack.”

For some reason, Compsognathus is not naturally afraid of humans. Rather, it seems to be quite curious about humans and their instruments of survival. They tend to be drawn toward humans out of this curiosity, and then call their pack mates to help explore their discovery. This usually leads to the aforementioned pack aggression, with dangerous results.

Compsognathus gain increasingly significant attack power and speed when in close proximity to other Compsognathus, as their pack aggression takes over their behavior.

Additionally, their distress call carries quite far, rapidly alerting the tribe and its pets to danger more efficiently, and increasing the likelihood of forming a so-called "Compy Gang."

#1 Tip from DododDex.com If you get 1000 or so level 300's, they can take on a giga

#2 Tip from DododDex.com

They're the Chihuahuas of the dinosaur world.

#3 Tip from DododDex.com

Where there's one, more will slowly spawn in. They won't attack you unless in a group of two or more. The bigger the crowd, the more damage they do

Scarlett's Diary (Goon doing Foe doing Scarlett)

Dear Diary,

I have been very busy studying the creature of Ark and Bobbert has been helping tremendously.  It's nice to have someone like him around who is kind, handsome, and shares my same passion for the creatures of the island. Though I enjoy all the travel with Bobbert, it would be nice to settle down somewhere, and solidify our relationship in a physical sense.

The Esme is perhaps one of the most interesting creatures I've ever studied. It manages to combine characteristics of leader, mother bear, troll, and dung beetle. The most interesting thing about this creature is its ability to rally large groups of other creatures to its cause. When you run into a wild Esme, be extremely careful not to make it angry, because once provoked, the Esme and all of its friends will pounce on you and devour you alive. Do not under any circumstances interfere with an Esme's offspring, because much like a Direbear, it will rip you face off. Once enraged, this creature will hunt you down again and again until you admit defeat. The Esme cannot be tamed; in fact, it's more likely to tame you. This isn't a bad thing, however, because there is never a dull moment with this creature around. The Esme has lots of little quirks. It has strong survival instincts, and will leave its friends behind to save itself.  It is easily spooked, and will scream and cackle at random intervals. A little scattered, the Esme has been known to leave its resources all around the island. The Esme is also obsessed with picking up poop, so its not advised to keep it around animals such as phiomias. This creature has a mischievous streak, and is known to pull hilarious pranks on its friends, such as filling their inventory with the poop it has picked up. All in all, the Esme is a fascinating creature, and is well worth your while to get tamed by.

Yours truly,

ESME WILL PLAY PRE RECORDED TIP if fells internet kicks him out!

*****Felloons Admin Tip******

Something I noticed on PS4, and it may be because the server pop was so low that not enough areas were active? I don't really know but the dino population was slowly dwindling to a point I was basically required to travel from my starter base in Viking Bay to well over the hill completely out of the area to get meat for my dinos.

The “fix” for this issue was using the console command :DestroyWildDinos

It triggered a basic respawn of all the wild dinos on the map it looked like we were going to have to do this about once a week or so to keep a good dino population with the number of players that are on.

You really should ask in global chat if anyone is taming a dino or something and wait until they are finished or it will kill their untamed dino.

A couple fun commands are which should be accessible on all platforms are: SetHeadHairPercent and SetFacialHairPercent.

Both of these commands do just what they say, one of them instantly grows the hair on your head and the other on your face.

  • The arguments for these are a number value from 0 to 1 where 1 = 100%
  • You can also access styles with SetHeadHairStyle and SetFacialHairStyle.
  • The arguments for these is a number from 0 to 7, each representing a style. You can find a list of the styles on the wiki.

Commands via Tatsu86 in Twitch Chat Live Recording :

Tatsu_86: I have tip commands as well, if you're interested, I'll list some off.
Tatsu_86: setbabyage - 1 = adult
Tatsu_86: setimprintquality 1 = 100

Tatsu_86: playersonly - freezes everyone except the poster.

****Punching Trees*****

Do you have a tip for a new player? Share it below:
Esme: Something I have meant to share but I have forgot to week after week AND I was finally reminded of it when Fell shared a reddit post similar to it today in our CRR Discord Server and that is to turn your ground clutter down, especially in PVP. Many times when you  have a great computer, you're Like “WEEEEE” I have an amazing computer! I want everything turned on and turned up!” But then someone with their ground clutter turned off can see you and anything else you're trying to hide from other players. You think you're being incognito but you just look like a der da der sticking out like a sore thumb! This came to me back when I was playing Prim Plus official with the gang and Javlin thought he was being slick with his ghillie suit while trying to snipe me. I said , I see you……. He was like NO YOU DON'T!!!!! I said Umm yes I do, I have my ground clutter turned off man lol IT WAS HILARIOUS :)
