COMMUNITY CRUNCH 129: NEW SERVERS, UPCOMING STREAM, & WILDCARD WORKSHOP!
Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! :
Upcoming New Servers!
Speciality servers are alternate game modes for ARK that last for a short period of time. Each new theme will bring on a new set of challenges different from that of servers currently available. However, these seasonal servers will wipe and change theme after a determined period of time.
We're looking for input from you today. We've set up a thread and we'd appreciate if you could drop your suggestions into the separate thread below. Changes will revolve around edits that can be made to the existing config. These types of changes can include many things like: tribe/alliance size, anything related to dino stats and taming, server rates, etc.
If you have a game mode that you think would be fun to play be sure to leave your comment in the thread:
Esme: What kind of game mode would you like to see as an option!?
Beginning on May 10th and continuing every other week on Thursdays, the community team will be doing biweekly livestreams!
During these livestreams we will have Zen Rowe, Chris, and Jen bringing ARK news, celebrating modding, and the community as a whole every other week. We'll be playing ARK, showing off mods, and showing off your community creations for all to see. Survivors are invited to join us in the chat (and sometimes even in-game) to play and talk with the community team and other developers.
At this time we're going to begin gathering up your community creations to be displayed on stream. We are accepting any type of ARK related fanart. This can be drawings, videos, builds, ANSEL screenshots, handmade crafts, anything ARK related!
Be sure to follow Their Twitch page so you don't miss a stream! twitch.tv/survivetheark
Wildcard Workshop & Mod Tutorial Contest Update!
Good day to you all! Zen Rowe here. I have a new Wildcard Workshop video for you today; we revisit replication with some practical examples. Make sure to check out the download link in the post for the project files.
The 5th Mod Tutorial Contest is now open! This time we're going to do a freestyle contest, meaning it's the perfect opportunity to put together a tutorial for any of those concepts that you kept telling yourself you would.
Today is also the last day for submissions for the 4th Mod Tutorial Contest, so make sure that you don't forget to submit those before the end of the day.
On May 1st they launched a new set of servers on PC. These Fresh servers have downloads disabled but uploads enabled for a period of 60 days. After 60 days transfers will open and they will no longer be called Fresh servers. Players are invited to play and build up on these servers without the threat of existing alpha tribes.
We wont read them but they are in the show notes
ARK: Evolution Event!
The next Evolution Event will take place from the 11th of May at 1 PM EST until Monday the 14th at 3 PM EST.
By Enforcement, Tuesday at 05:13 PM in General Discussion

Update: We have completed our PC maintenance for an enforcement action pertaining to violations of our Code of Conduct. Our services have now resumed as usual. Thank you for your patience and ongoing support, Survivors!
As a result of today's enforcement, 40 tribes had structures and tames removed, 73 accounts were globally banned, and 21 accounts were hardware banned. This action concludes an investigation where the violations included aimbotting, under the meshing, DDoS involvement, RMT, use of other third-party programs (hacks), and direct association with others who violated the Code of Conduct.
This year, on the 6th of February, we announced a one-time amnesty against a number of tribes on our Official PC PvP Network due to a widely exploited vulnerability. We informed the community that this would be a one-time situation, and in the future, we would continue to be heavy-handed against those who play unfairly and break our rules (now Code of Conduct) on the Official Servers.
During today’s enforcement action, we will temporarily prevent join access to a number of our Official Servers as we work to enforce our Code of Conduct. We realize the effect this downtime may have on our players and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Unfortunately, as we work to enforce our policies and take action against players and tribes that are not willing to follow the rules server outages are a necessary action that must occasionally take place for the betterment of the player experience as a whole.
Today’s action will impact multiple tribes and consist of the removal of structures, dinos, and items, as well as the possibility of a global network, BattlEye protected, and/or hardware ID ban for cheaters. In this instance, the violations include aimbotting, under the meshing, DDoS, RMT and using various other third-party programs. We’ve decided to issue bans where warranted and continued violations of our Code of Conduct will result in further wipes/bans.
The downtime will commence at approximately 10 AM PST and we expect this to last for approximately 6 - 9 hours. The servers affected by today’s enforcement action can be found here:
WE WON'T READ THEM BUT THEY ARE IN OUR SHOW NOTES
Please ensure that when playing our game, you abide by our Code of Conduct and if you would like to make a report, you can do so here for PC or contact our support team for consoles.
To be clear, cheating in ARK will not be tolerated. We do not take our responses and actions lightly and have put much thought and deliberation into how we would best enforce our policies moving forward. We will continue to diligently monitor our game for rule breakers, cheaters, and all around “bad actors” and will continue to commit resources to implementing new and better solutions related to detecting and removing those who are playing unfairly.
We realize that innocent players will be caught up in the enforcement of our Code of Conduct. Unfortunately, there is no perfect “silver bullet” solution as we work to improve our game in this regard. We apologize for any loss and inconvenience that this may cause, but feel that it is a necessary side effect of enforcing our rules. We will continue to do our best to ensure that ARK remains a fair, fun, and competitive environment for all.
Thank you for your continued trust, patience and ongoing support, Survivors!

****Dino Spotlight with Goon and Esme****
Dino Name: Cnidaria (ny-dar-ee-ah)
Cnidaria omnimorph is another example of a creature which should not exist. It has traits that seem derived from many types of jellyfish. It possesses the size and shape of large egg-yolk jellies, the powerful sting of certain box jellies, and the bioluminescence of deep-sea jellies. This all combines to make a dangerous creature that lights up the deepest reaches of the ocean.
Cnidaria is not generally aggressive, because it lacks normal perceptive senses. It generally just floats along on the current until something gets close enough to sense, at which point it attacks. While its attacks are not directly powerful, its sting injects an incredibly strong and fast-acting sedative.
As Cnidaria is barely more intelligent than a plant, there's no effective method to tame one.
Most tribes kill Cnidaria on sight, then collect its reserve of powerful sedative (bio toxin), to use in technically advanced long-distance tranquilizers.
Top 2 Dododex Tips from Dododex.com
#1 Never go near it with your Dino, it will kill you, your Dino, your friends, your family, the guy down the street, some guy over in Africa, all while they won't do a thing to attack it.
#2 Their attacks shock you (which makes you unable to move), and they often stick in groups. If you get surrounded by these, you're basically dead. Don't use melee weapons, use a crossbow.

GOON: Scarlet Diaries
Bobbert and I have been travelling together for two weeks now, and we've been falling further and further in love. I also repaid his saving my life by saving his. He was pinned down by a sabertooth, and it was just about to sink it's teeth into his neck when I heroically ran in, crossbow blazing, and shot it in the eye. As we cooked the unfortunate animal, I felt the chemistry between us increase. As we talked, he started moving closer and closer towards me. Finally, we were inches apart, and I knew that Bobbert was the one for me. As our lips met over the cooked meat, it was like the entire world was ablaze. That was because we had both moved too close to the campfire, and were now burning. We managed to put our clothing out, but now I know for certain that Bobbert feels the same way about me as I do for him.
The Foe is a strange, dangerous creature. Extreme caution must be taken if encountered in the wild. If the Foe sees you, it will likely use it's nearest weapon, or raw strength to dispatch you and everything you hold dear. The only way to bend a Foe to your will is to sacrifice a fellow tribe member to it. Once tamed, it is important to train the Foe properly, else it can be difficult to manage. However, it's also incredibly useful if managed well. A tamed Foe can wreak havoc on other tribes, and is experienced at trolling. It is also great at building, gathering resources, and killing other threats. The perks of a tamed Foe outweigh the negatives.
P.S. Esme Will, she asked me to in a dm (Can someone please read this in a normal, serous voice ) I would like to thank all of the CRR Gaming Group for their support. I have been going through a rough time in my life, and I appreciate the constant advice and good vibes that the group has been giving me. I heavily encourage listeners to join the group, and become part of this fantastic CRR family!

Do you have a tip for a new player? Share it below:
Dubaii: Dude… gamma commands!
Felloon: Don’t agro aggressive dinos and think your thatch hut is going to save you! & one of the first items you should focus on crafting is a sleeping bag.
Do you have a tip for more experienced players? Share it below:
Felloon: If it's your playing on a server with badass dinos such as Extinction Core (and also to be determined if this works with Primal Fear), don't use turrets, psx or spiked walls because the last thing you want is to agro a badass dino that can rip your base to shreds. Back when we were playing on our Extinction Core cluster, my best advice for those folks new to EC was to build 4 high walls and keep you out of the wild dinos line of sight.
Do you want to share something you would like to see changed or something you have seen that the community seems to dislike?
Esme: Some unbaked things I feel Wild card needs to get to work on.
Two shows ago we talked about the new codes of conducts. I said I think they should have reiterated them at release and I after talking about it with others We think they should have them linked to on the login screen. The tutorial is still non existent. One generic screenshot with a few sentences saying there are a few things that you might need to know before getting started then that's it, nada . lol
I wish we knew when structures plus or any other mods in the Supported Ark Mod program will be implemented.
Trying an experiment in the game? Share it here!
Been doing the RP server with fellow CRR members Esme Crikket Goon and Foe. We’ve been having Fun Goon made a few neat upgrades to the Dino building (goon can talk about it). We went on a cool canoe trip but after about an hour or so of exploring we ran into a Server reset…. Se we quickly found a nice camp spot and Bunkered down for the night it was fun while it lasted.
Trying out a server one of our CRR members (AirDubaii) found that has both Extinction Core and Primal Fear. Since I'm a glutton for punishment and a sucker for bad ass Dino's I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see how well the two mods worked with one another. I think the wild dino cap is level 1000, not sure about player level but it's well beyond normal.
There are a couple of other mods they are using that are quite interesting, at least one of which I plan on implementing on our cluster and probably any other server I setup. It's called Editable Server UI created by Don Camillo. It's basically an informational mod for the server. You can place web links, server rules, server setup or any other information that might be relevant. It looks like you can do this per tribe as well. Very cool. The only thing that could make this mode even better, in my opinion, is to add a calendar that give you a notification icon when an event is due!!
See the mod at: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=924619115
Also back in full swing on PS4 0man and I are working towards downing the Ragnarok bosses on Yogi's server and he invited me to join him on official PvP to take a run at the boss fight. I'm very much looking forward to both.
I also plan on joining our group who have started to establish a spot for CRR on one of the new servers.
So much to do!
ESME: Trying out the FRESH servers with the CRR Gang! Shout out to Klev, Johnny, Goon, Foe, Air , and Dr. Aub who have tribed up with me to rock out a new CRR Rated Ark Base on our old stomping grounds, the Angry Beaver Island
