Dino Spotlight! Esme & Goon
Info From the Ark Dossier
Carnotaurus pressor is an interesting creature that falls between medium and large predator. It lives primarily on flat clear ground, where it can capitalize on its speed. Additionally, it seems to have no qualms about running from larger predators instead of fighting.
Carnotaurus fills a very specific role. Larger and almost as fast as a Raptor, smaller but much faster than a Tyrannosaurus.
ESME: Known Information
The horns of the Carnotaurus seem to be used more for fighting rival Carnotauri (Carnotauruses?) than actual hunting. This doesn't mean the horns aren't dangerous, though; they can still eviscerate larger prey. Carnotaurus is one of the smaller and more compact of the large predators. If Tyrannosaurus is the "Lion" of the island, Carnotaurus would certainly be the "cheetah". The real threat of a Carnotaurus is not being able to escape it once it sees you. Were it not for the creature's extremely long down-time after sprinting, it might be among the most capably balanced mounts.
GOON _-Carryable By -Quetzal Wyvern Tusoteuthis
Immobilized By - Chain Bola Large Bear Trap Plant Species Y Trap
Can Damage -Thatch Wood
ESME- Taming Method Knockout
Preferred Kibble - Kibble (Ankylo Egg)
Preferred Food- Raw Mutton
Equipment- Carno Saddle (Lv 46)
GOON; Dododex User Tip- I highly recommend getting up high on a boulder or getting the carno stuck somewhere while knocking it out. Unless you are a high level, you will not be able to outrun it.
ESME- DODOEX USer Tip: If you get one aggro on you, just find the nearest dino and book it. They are kinda dumb and lose interest when other dinos are nearby.

Don't worry console ARK Picassos, we haven't forgot about you! When per-pixel painting debuts on console, what are you gonna paint first?! https://twitter.com/arkjeremy/status/862919567697489920
Issue # 2 is Live! Take a look at the map making process with our sponsored modders and @damien_bull #ArkModProgram
The Blunderbuss is coming to #PrimitivePlus. Primitive players want to ascend too! 😁 https://twitter.com/ComplexMinded/status/861732843143049216
I'm happy to announce some exciting additions to the mod program this month! It's been hard to keep track of all the content that is released lately! The program is already off to a healthy start, and we're already looking to add more into the group. If you haven't heard about the sponsored mod program, it's an opportunity for modders to get some cash for doing what they love to do. As someone who plays ARK, you end up getting lots of new content to use in ARK. It's a win-win for everyone involved! For more information be sure to check out this initial post announcing the program.
We've been keeping an eye on the budding talent in the workshop, so be sure to get your work out there! Your mod doesn't have to be near complete to be a part of the program. We are always looking for those unpolished diamonds! This month we're adding 3 more mods into the program. Each of these mods has gained a bit of attention, and we're looking forward to seeing how they develop.
A quick glance at this map might let you know this isn't your typical island. It is fantasy based, which I'm sure a lot of you will like. It's also a welcome addition since there aren't a ton of fantasy styled maps. I was impressed when I had the pleasure of taking a look at this map a few weeks back. While it's still a work in progress, it's enough there to see how epic this can be.
How many times have you wished there was a marketplace similar to popular MMO titles in ARK? Well, there is! It's amazing to see what a little creativity and some time in the development kit will do. There's still lots of troubleshooting and testing going on, but this has the potential to be useful for a lot of ARK survivors. You can virtually trade anything! Wonder if we'll ever see seller ratings?
Everyone wants bigger and better ships, right? Well, it looks like you're in luck! Not only are there different ship models, but there are also several advancements made to the existing rafts in ARK. You might want to look into Advanced Rafts if you ever wanted a bigger building radius or more structures allowed on your raft. There's plenty of structures and content to build the harbor of your dreams!

Main Topic of the show:
(One topic to cover that is Ark Related then move on. It is the meat and potatoes of the show).
Where to begin, middle and end when teaching someone how to Ark.
If you haven't guided someone through the death throes of early Ark, did someone guide you, did you wake to an island truly alone, left to fly or fall. How did you figure it out?
Input: I was kinda stumped with my little sister. She knows the basics, gather, build, learn, tame, cook, etc. So what do I show her next? What's the next logical step?
- The beginning was more of an exploration
- Then I had a lot of my PvP was trial by fire
- CRR was a bit of exploration with mods with a little assistance.
- Teaching Goon how to use some of the mods on the builder server.
Input: Tried to teach my daughter (who just told me to say hi to all of you) but we didn’t get very far. She’s a little excitable so she would just run away as soon as something came at her (oh chase!)
I learned it myself - it was my next game after Minecraft, and when I started I used to call it “Minecraft for grownups, with dinosaurs”. You have to understand that when I played minecraft I started on survival. Minecraft was indeed my first survival game. It was hard the first time I tried it. But the skills of “Get wood and some materials, make some tools, etc” was directly transferable, more or less. I think it was because of minecraft that I avoided taming for too long (I didn’t read any docs or watched any videos because I was afraid of spoilers… little did I know there is no story to this thing!). It’s very frustrating to try to survive on an official server without taming anything. It also sucked that I got my copy in December, when the Winter Wonderland event was going on. Winter = hunger and cold everywhere. Even Easy map sections were just hard. Most of my time as levels 1-15 were spent eating berries like a madman.
Input: I got a little help / meat etc from a random stranger on a pve server. And then we used google in a big way to find the gamepedia and work through the thing. I don’t mind that tactic though because it makes sense not having a instruction manual. Adds to the game. Having to figure out to punch trees etc, fumbling your way through and then finding resources like this podcast. I imagine that research and trial and error is kind of how it all happened. Just over millions of years. Not hundreds of hours.
Input:learning and teaching at the same time.
Input:my main tip involves when teaching someone, don't do it for them. Multiple times I have brought friends into play the game for them to be overwhelmed with where I am at in the game. My best advice would be to start them out with the basics, help them by gathering and maybe making them decent tools but nothing crazy.
Input: I had no clue where to begin when I started ark. Having someone there to help you walk through the basic steps of Ark can be life or death and death and more death. Learning the basics of punching trees, gathering berries and making tools is huge! Having someone hook you up with metal tools is a life changer! Taming is entire new world when you're first learning. Have fun and be patient.
Input: Luminin taught me, which explains a lot of my problems now. His methods were a little different, i would go do something or try something and usually die, then Luminin would then tell me that was something i might not want to do.
Luminin: Just like when I train someone at work, toss them right into the fire!
Input: When I tried to teach my mom to play she was very excitable and I couldn't teach her anything because I was too busy laughing my ass off lol When I helped sity get acquainted I invited him to the game and let him know I was there to answer any questions and only helped when or if he needed it. I did help him get his first trike down and told him what he needed to tame it regarding berries and narcotics he had already made and berries her had to run around and collect and showed him how to remote feed and he did just fine and now he is a taming machine! I have just got my 9 year old nephew into the game lol I told him about it and he had he dad get it for him and he immediately went looking for Youtube videos about it which kind of scared me and impressed me at the same time . I think it is overwhelming to most new players to have people thrust stuff at them . We often forget that this stuff is second nature to us and forget what is is like to experience the game for the first time and I think we should just stick to free boxes. Let people take what they want if they want it. Let people know that you are there to help them if you want too, but let them learn on their own too. Basics would be building , where to get your first meat, how to make narcotics and where the easiest places to farm metal and such are. After that I would let them go .
Foe - il play with them to help them through that's the best I can do explaining there is just to much , kinda just have to take them under your wing a bit and show them in game .

Tip OR Tale: I've finally broken 1k hours playing Ark. So a bit of advice when encountering a new creature. Ask someone about it's behavior or how lethal it is once provoked. If you can't learn from another’s mistakes (or their Google expertise) DON'T GOOGLE! Take off your valuables except a cheap weapon, put them and, if you have one at the time, your mount somewhere safe. Then charge in pike poking or sword swinging. You'll figure it out on your own, your heart will be pounding and you'll remember why you love this game.
